Job Title:  Machine and Tooling Designer

Department:  New Business/Engineering Design Division

Available Shift:  7:00am – 3:30pm ET, Monday – Friday

Status:  Fulltime   

Education:  5+ years drawing and/or design work experience 

Job Description:

Well-equipped candidates will be highly proficient at reading, designing, and crafting drawings using Solidworks Design Software while interpreting drawings and engineering information from a wide range of industries.  At times working from rough sketches and specifications created by engineers will be necessary.  Candidate will be able to calculate dimensions and tolerances using functional knowledge of mathematics.  This role supports periodic reverse engineering for customer provided parts, dies and other project initiatives.  He or she must be able to measure, examine and validate dimensions to ensure conformance to specifications by using precision instruments such as micrometers and Vernier calipers to craft new parts into Solidworks.  Experience using an optical comparator is a plus.  

A broad range of unique parts are machined at Abbottstown Industries to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines and/or grinders on location based on created drawings.  Candidate having machining experience and or experience designing products with engineering and manufacturing techniques is desired.  Candidate will work closely with our internal Tool & Die Division who they will primarily support.  

Candidate must exhibit strong communication skills being able to communicate effectively with all levels of leadership and peers.  Candidate must have a passion for their craft with a superior focus on quality and providing an exceptional product to our customers.  Occasional visits to customer locations to collaborate with architects and engineers on build needs will also occur.  He or she must have strong time management skills and be able to work independently while possessing critical thinking skills for complex problem solving.     

This role requires a light level of physical activity some of which includes considerable use of hands, arms, legs, occasional safely lifting and/or maneuvering heavy materials using appropriate lifting equipment and sitting for extended periods of time.

Job Description:

Equipped candidates will be required to read drawings and engineering documentation in order to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to fabricate products per specification.  CNC Mill experience is required and must include on machine conversational programming, CAM experience and Experience with Mazatrol are a plus.  He or she must be able to calculate dimensions and tolerances using functional knowledge of mathematics.  They must be able to measure, examine and validate completed parts in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications by using precision instruments such as micrometers and Vernier calipers.  

A broad range of different and unique parts are machined to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines and/or grinders.  Candidate should be proficient at set-up, adjustment of speeds/feeds as well as the alignment and securing of holding fixtures, raw material positioning and placement, cutting tools, attachments, and accessories onto machines.  

Candidate must exhibit strong communication skills being able to communicate effectively with all levels of leadership and peers.  He or she must fully engage in active listening and active learning to ensure the understanding of information for current and future problem solving and decision making.  Candidate must have the aptitude and be receptive to cross-training as this role provides exposure to a wide array of machine types and technical capabilities.  Candidate must have a passion for their craft with a superior focus on quality and providing an exceptional product to our customers.

Job Title:  Clean-Up Personnel

Department:  Manufacturing

Available Shift:  2:00pm – 6:00pm ET, Monday – Friday

Education:  High School or equivalent preferred

Job Description:

The role of shop Clean-Up Personnel cleans and maintains assigned areas to ensure workspaces are safe and free of debris.  Essential functions and responsibilities of the position may vary by requirements and business needs.

Essential Functions:

  • Adheres to established procedures to provide a safe working environment including complying with Osha, state/local, federal, and Company Policies
  • Properly cleans, sweeps, and maintains multiple areas throughout the shop facility including aisleways and in & around machines utilizing brooms, dustpans, compressed air and/or brushes
  • Breaks down cardboard boxes for outsourced recycling pick-up
  • Empty trash cans around shop and restrooms then dispose of at designated on-site location
  • Refill soap dispensers, wash sinks and fill paper dispenser as needed in shop restrooms
  • Collect metal chips and filings using supplied equipment
  • Utilize all required safety equipment including safety glasses, cut resistant gloves and steel toed boots/shoes
  • Other duties assigned by manager
  • Escalate any safety concerns and/or equipment needs to any member of leadership
  • Lock all exterior doors at shifts end

Qualifications:

He or she must have strong time management skills and be able to work independently.  This role requires a level of physical activity some of which includes considerable use of hands, arms, legs, safely lifting and/or safely maneuvering items.  Role requires standing and/or walking for extended periods of time as well as the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and climb stairs as needed.
